about

Achilles Heel (2022)
featuring 13 tracks 46min in duration

After the release of Murky and the feedback received, I started writing the songs for Achilles heel later in the year 2021.
It was only in December of 2021 when everything came together as alot of events took place and a lot of important events was postponed.
The only way to cope with it was to pick up the guitar and start playing. ''Sticky Notes'' was the last song written in December 2021 and it took me some time to get back into my groove after that.

The collaboration with Nico Shevron happened on a spontaneous evening. Nico picked up his Nylon guitar and just started playing these beautiful melodies over the chords progressions, so naturally we recorded a few takes. The flow was just right. In the last section of the song it feels like we have a conversation by playing guitar riffs. There's never a dull moment with Nico and it's an honour to work with him. A true friend.

''Shifting Gears'' is just one of those songs that are easy to listen to and is mostly inspired by my recent habit of putting on synthwave every morning to get the day started.

The song ''Inclined City'' was written when I picked up the corona virus . While isolating I watched a documentary talking about the business of Smartphone manufacturing. The chorus lyrics ''Setting minors abroad'' is set where minors work in the slave trade and where the companies sell them a tantalized dream. ''The landslide will take you away'' is how the erosion of the planet wipes out whole communities due to them mining up all the recourses. ''Can we open the gates'' is where the people in power make the choices for who goes through. ''It's a domino effect'' people turning a blind eye on the consequences of that yearly upgrade.''

''Evening Away'' was written at the start of the album process and funny enough felt just right for the closer. The lyric ''Stuck in the offside, didn't hear your call'' referring that you think you were right but got carried away. ''But who really knows, it only goes to show that we need to play it back'' referring that the situation was misunderstood and that we should just hear each other out.

The overall mood of the album is raw, chill and spaced out with dark bass. I love every song and hope you do, to.
Exposing our vulnerabilities is the true Achilles Heel.
